EMILY KAUFMAN

Emily Kaufman was born in New York City in 1961. She went to Washington College, where she majored in Humanities, taking her junior year abroad in Madrid under the auspices of the Middlebury Language School. After graduation, she returned to Madrid for two years. In 1984, she moved permanently to Ibiza, where she was immediately captivated by the island’s natural beauty and tranquil lifestyle as well as its unique history. In 1989, she began studying local history as a hobby, a pursuit that has become an ongoing source of fascination. We hope that her findings on local customs and traditions as well as her recounting of Ibiza’s historical development will be of interest to other history buffs.
